Environmental Policy

Principles

The Company satisfies all legal requirements and endeavors to go beyond those Standards where we believe it to be appropriate and consistent with business needs. To ensure compliance, we implement and monitor suitable management systems.

A detailed knowledge of all relevant legal and political developments is maintained by the Human Resources Department. So that we anticipate and are prepared for any future changes in standards.

We review and, where necessary carry out research into new plant designs and process techniques so that we may make more efficient use of energy and raw materials, and introduce cleaner and quieter technologies consistent with business requirements.

The environmental impact of new capital investments is assessed before approval to ensure conformity with this policy.

Our aim is to further reduce all emissions from the production processes. This is achieved by process modifications to prevent their production and by improved management techniques. All waste is segregated to enable recycling wherever possible.

We minimize the use of packaging having given due regard to the distribution chain, sales presentation and the products end use. The vast majority of the company’s packaging is paper, board and corrugated based, and hence can enter the recycling chain. We review the potential impact of our packaging materials on the environment and the results are considered in the design and selection of future specifications.

All sites are kept tidy and appropriately landscaped. The visual impact of new and substantially modified buildings is considered in their design.

The environmental performance of certain departments is audited regularly to monitor and ensure the correct level of compliance with legal standards and company procedures.

We are committed to implementing and maintaining the Chain of Custody requirements of both the FSC and the PEFC in regard to the purchasing and supply of timber products.
