When Mr and Mrs B from Tendring instructed Kent Blaxill to makeover their family kitchen, their brief included a rigid factory-made kitchen, at an affordable price.

Mr and Mrs B wanted a fresh, airy feel for this important family area and that included incorporating a storage-cumdecorative solution to make a feature of the alcove in the chimney breast, which had previously housed the boiler.

Kent Blaxill kitchen designer Sandy Dobson suggested including an integral eating area by retaining the position of the hob across the kitchen corner, so eating/cooking areas could be as free and efficient as possible.
And with Mr and Mrs B’s comfort in mind, Sandy’s individual solution for storage within the chimney breast was met with a shallow base unit below the table top, open shelf/wine rack at wall unit height and by running the worktop into the alcove so that the kitchen feels particularly ‘homely’. General storage needs were simpler and met, in the main, by the use of drawer line units and pan drawers beneath the hob - achieving a sleek and uncluttered overall feel.

With any major redecoration, there are always practical challenges and Kent Blaxill’s fitting expert Geoff Cleal was there to help. Geoff said “Sometimes it’s impossible to foresee hidden issues such as electrical or plumbing but our experienced teams at Kent Blaxill were on hand to ensure that the end result of spectacular new recessed ceiling lighting was achieved in Mr and Mrs B’s kitchen”. He continued “We know how important it is to be able to trust fitters and that is all part of the service at Kent Blaxill – we always contact the client before making any changes so there are no surprises, either in terms of cost or changes to plans.”
