Kent Blaxill Glass Cutter

A new state-of-the-art automatic glass cutting bench has been installed in the glass department to improve turnround times.

The Bottero automatic cutting bench was installed over four days in January and, after two days of staff training, went into immediate use for the company’s sealed unit production.

Adam Smith, glass department manager, said: “It is up to five times quicker than our previous glass cutting machine. I have been amazed by the advance of technology in these machines over recent years.”

The machine cuts glass between 3mm and 19mm thick and can be used to produce either standard programmed sizes or customised shapes which can be digitised from a template by laser. Templates can be downloaded direct from a computer network.
It is also features a safety beam, which if broken results in the machine cutting out.

John Ford, operations director, said: “We have continued to invest throughout the recession to ensure that we are well placed when the market picks up.”
