Cool tones for the warm months

Summer can be a joyful time! Days at the beach, the Ice Cream vans that line the street, barbecues in the evening…the list goes on. What can ruin summer though is hot, stuffy homes which aren’t designed with the heat in mind. Whilst paint cannot cool a room down, cool tones can certainly help to alleviate some of the effects of British home design.

The colour of a room can do a lot more than just change the appearance, colours can reflect moods, complement characteristics of a space and help change the dynamics of a room, to name a few. When choosing the colour for a room, it is important to consider the rooms characteristics, how a colour appears on a colour card only tells half the story. The light coming into the room is going to be the biggest factor that effects the colour on the walls.

In the warmer months, cooler tones such as blues, greens and purples can be a good fit for those rooms that can just get a little too hot. Cooler tones can calm and relax you, leaving you feeling refreshed. Use them in spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms, places where you unwind and relax.

Dulux Heritage Copenhagen Blue

Dulux Heritage Copenhagen Blue is a pale, fresh sky blue. An optimistic, pastel shade. Edwardians used light blues to open up dark rooms, reflecting maximum light around a space. Dulux heritage reaches back to these beginnings in a style which is still endured to this day.

When paired with whites, the coordinating colour scheme can help accentuate the darker details in a room such as browns, greens and gold.
