KB 175 Tour De Branch

Lycra-clad Kent Blaxill staff, customers and suppliers will be embarking on a 175-mile cycle ride on September 12 with the aim of raising more than £5,000 for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity.

The KB ‘Tour’, which is one of the Kent Blaxill 175th anniversary events, will call in at all the company’s branches, starting at Braintree and finishing at Colchester.

The Tour is also dedicated to the memory of Anthony Kinsella, a young colleague who sadly passed away, and who was supported by the services of CLIC Sargent.

An estimated 56 riders will be taking part in the event, including riders from most KB branches. Riders will be organised into four teams, with at least one rider from each team on the road at any time. Some riders will be completing the entire 175 mile course.

The event is not a race but designed to be a challenge and an enjoyable event for cyclists travelling on road bikes. The East Anglian countryside is relatively flat so apart from a few inclines and the distances involved, the ride will be forgiving in its altitude. The intention is that all riders ride together and help maintain a speed of approximately 18mph.

“It promises to be an exciting event, for which those taking part have been in training all year,” said Simon Blaxill, managing director.
